Complete product builds
Empty repository to a system customers use. Interface, database, authentication, business logic, hosting, and the pipeline that deploys it — with a founder accountable for all of it.
Websites
Marketing sites, landing pages and storefronts — fast, accessible, and built so a copy change doesn’t mean calling us back. This site and the TeeBox storefront are both ours, statically hosted behind a CDN.
Payments and marketplaces
Multi-party payments through Stripe Connect: charging buyers, verifying seller identity, automating payouts, handling refunds and disputes. The part most projects underestimate, and the part that has to be right.
iOS applications
Native apps built and carried through App Store review — signing, TestFlight, push notifications, and the review process itself, which is a discipline separate from writing the app.
Backend and infrastructure
Serverless functions, data modelling, security rules, transactional email that reaches the inbox rather than the spam folder, and monitoring so failures surface before a customer finds them.
AI implementation
Working out where AI earns its cost inside a business and where it is an expensive distraction — then building that piece: document handling, customer support, internal tooling, and the plumbing that keeps it accurate. We use these tools every day in our own work, which is why we will tell you when the answer is no.
Strategic marketing
Positioning, messaging and the route to the first customers: who the product is for, what it costs to reach them, and which channels are worth the spend. The same first question as the engineering — what does this earn?

You talk to the people writing the code
Both of us write code. Carter takes the first call and Jake is in the room for the brief, so nothing gets scoped by someone who won’t be building it. No account manager relaying messages, no requirements lost in a handoff, no junior developer quietly assigned after the pitch. The people who build it are the people who answer when something breaks.
Modern tooling, and the timeline that follows
We build with current tooling rather than around it, which is why scope a traditional shop quotes in quarters tends to land in weeks — and the pricing reflects that rather than quietly pocketing the difference. Every line still gets read, understood and owned by one of us before it ships.
Shipped, not delivered
A repository handed over at the end of a contract is not a product. We put the thing in front of real users, watch what breaks, and fix it — because we run our own platform on exactly the same terms.
We read the economics before writing the code
The background here is accounting, not just engineering. That means an honest answer about what a feature costs to run, and a willingness to say when the expensive version isn't worth building.

Built by Nair is Jake and Carter Nair, brothers based in Chicago. Two people, both writing code — and between them covering the engineering, the economics, and the conversation you start with.
Jake leads the engineering. He holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in accounting from the University of Missouri — an unusual route into writing production code, and one that turns out to be an advantage. He built TeeBox, a golf equipment marketplace, from nothing to a live platform with payment processing and an iOS app, single-handedly. Doing that alone meant learning the parts of shipping software most developers get to hand to someone else: payment compliance and identity verification, App Store review, email deliverability, and incident response at two in the morning when money is moving between strangers.
Most software gets built by people who have never had to run the thing afterwards. That changes what you build.
Carter writes code alongside Jake and runs business development and client relationships, so he is usually the first person you speak to. He is a senior at North Central College in Naperville finishing a degree in computer science, with experience in cybersecurity and technology consulting. That matters more than it sounds: the person scoping your project builds software himself, so nothing is promised in a first call that has to be walked back later. His job is working out what a project actually needs — and what it is worth — before a line of it gets quoted.
The accounting training shows up in the work. Before a feature gets built, the first question is what it costs to run and what it earns — which is why clients here tend to get talked out of at least one expensive idea per project.
